FDS is excited to announce our very special 20th Anniversary Gala, Performance of Dance - our annual themed concert, which will take place on June 10th, 2023, at the famous California Theatre in downtown San Jose.

For over 20 years, Fantasy Dance School has provided various dance classes, including Ballet, Jazz, Folk, Contemporary, Ballroom, Hip-Hop, and children’s Choreography. We are thrilled to take you on a trip down memory lane as we revisit some of our 20+ performances over the years that have made us the strong school we are today.

Commitment

The Annual Concert is a commitment. This includes a commitment to be in classes weekly to learn, clean, and practice dances with their classmates and at ALL scheduled performances/rehearsals, including non-dress rehearsals occurring throughout the three weeks before the concert.

Rehearsal Schedules

There are MANDATORY rehearsals that students are required to attend. This includes:

In-studio (@FDS) Dress Rehearsal on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023
Stage and Dress Rehearsal (@California Theatre) on Friday, June 9th, 2023
Non-dress rehearsals occur throughout the three weeks before the concert and are mandatory

While specific rehearsal times will be released closer to the concert, we ask families to block off the three weeks before as rehearsal days and times will differ from your original class time.

Classes may be called on different days or times, dependent on the number of dances, solos, and where they fall in the various scenes.

Please keep in mind that if you participated in our previous year’s concerts, rehearsals might vary differently in length and times as we are preparing our Gala Performance which will include more dances, sets, and an unforgettable story come to life.

Rehearsals will occur daily after school and may differ from your usual class times.

Absences

Any class or rehearsal absences during May and June may result in your student not performing in the show. Please be mindful when planning vacations at this time. Take this into consideration before committing to the annual show.

Concert Ticket Distribution

Each family can purchase tickets to the show. Tickets will be available for purchase on the California Theatre Website.

As a reminder, seats are charged based on tier/level of seats. Admission: $35 - $65

Costume Distribution

Costumes will first be tried during your student's classes to see if adjustments or alterations are needed. Once all alterations are completed on our end, costumes will be distributed to families.

The Costume distribution week is Monday, May 1st, through Saturday, May 6th, 2023.

All families will receive an email about what day and time slot is designated for them to pick up their student's costumes (most likely the day of their class). Please be sure to come to your designated day and time with a labeled garment bag to pick up your costumes.

Garment bags are available for purchase through our FDStore if needed.

*Once costumes are given to the families, please DO NOT wash costumes before the concert. Steaming of costumes is all that is allowed before the concert.

Communication

All FDS correspondence regarding the show and costumes is sent via email. Be sure to add info@fantasydance.us to your email address book. And be sure to have your current email address on file with the studio.

Saturday, June 10th, 2023 - Day of the Concert - WHAT TO EXPECT

Please note that this performance will be our way of showing appreciation, love, and growth for all of our students and families that have been with us this year and in years past to allow us to celebrate 20 years together. We will closely monitor (and potentially make adjustments) based on the recommendations by the County of Santa Clara, the State of California, and the California Theatre. Guidelines corresponding to COVID-19 may change by the time of our concert. Please check our website and read all emails for updates regarding our COVID-19 policies that may change by the time of the concert due to current guidelines. Please get in touch with our office administration via phone or email if you and your family have any questions. We appreciate everyone's cooperation and can't wait to see our students shine on stage!

Dancers - What to Expect:

(Dependent on California Theatre & the County of Santa Clara guidelines currently) - Masks will not be required in the theatre for performers. More information will be released when confirmed regarding COVID-19 updates.
Dancers must stay with their class at all times. This will also be practiced during the weeks of rehearsals. Dancers will be prohibited from mingling with other classes to maintain stable groups.

Attendance Members - What to Expect:

Audience members are asked not to attend if they are currently or have felt symptoms related to COVID-19 and its variants within 24 hours of the concert.
(Dependent on California Theatre & the County of Santa Clara guidelines currently) - All audience members may be required to show vaccination or wear a mask for the performance's entirety if COVID-19 guidelines enforce. Updates will be provided closer to the performance.
